ABUSE, NEGLECT AND EXPLOITATION OF THE ELDERLY
Florida is a progressive state in the protection of its elderly population. It recognizes that there are many persons in this state who, because of age or disability, are in need of protective services. The elderly and disabled should be allowed the same rights as other citizens and, at the same time, be protected from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
Florida has a law that helps provide for the detection and correction of abuse, neglect, and exploitation through social services and criminal investigations and establishes a program of protective services for all disabled adults or elderly persons in need of them.
Harrell and Harrell has been on the forefront of fighting the abuse of the elderly. The firm helps victims of elder abuse recover monetary damages which are often significant; however, it also reports such cases to and works with the protective services of the state in an effort to prevent the further abuse, neglect, and exploitation of disabled adults or elderly persons.
