Attorney Jamie Holland Honored as the Recipient of the “Mickey Smiley” Award

Julie Harrell and Jamie Holland

Harrell and Harrell is proud to announce that our lead trial attorney Jamie Holland, was honored as the recipient of the W. McKinley Smiley, Jr. “Mickey Smiley” Award for the second time. The Florida Justice Association’s Young Lawyers’ Section created the W. McKinley Smiley, Jr. “Mickey Smiley” Award in 1998. The annual award recognizes and honors a lawyer who has gone above and beyond in leadership, mentoring and guiding the newest members of the legal community.

On June 13, 2019, Chris Keller, the Young Lawyers’ Section President presented the award to Jamie Holland, noting that Mr. Holland previously won the award in 2008 and is the only member to receive the award twice. Law Professor Mickey Smiley (1935-2016), was perhaps the most inspirational and best-known law professor to ever teach law school students the craft of being a trial lawyer. In forty years of teaching, he led Stetson Law School to prominence as one of the top schools in the nation for the skills needed to succeed in the courtroom.

Jamie Holland’s success in and out of the courtroom inspires others to share their experience and enthusiasm for the law with those who are eager to learn. In over twenty-five years of practice, Jamie has routinely served on the faculty of the Al Cone Trial Institute, has coached Mock Trial teams to distinction at Coastal Law School and Bolles High School, served as a judge for over twenty Mock Trial competitions and has successfully mentored many young lawyers.

We could not be more proud to have Jamie as part of our team or for the work he has done and the example he sets for all lawyers.
