Thanks to the generosity of our community and the dedication of so many volunteers, this year’s Harrell & Harrell Toy Drive was a tremendous success. We far surpassed our goal of 1,000 toys, collecting nearly 1,500 toys for the wonderful children at Wolfson Children’s Hospital.
A number of small businesses and social groups conducted their own drives and donated their collections to ours, and we’re so grateful for their contributions.
Toys were also delivered to UF Health Jacksonville, our area’s trauma hospital. While our “elves” could not personally visit the young patients there, the Children’s Miracle Network team made sure the supply of toys at UF Health would be well-stocked.
All toys that are left over after the holidays will go to the Child Life Specialist warehouse. Toys are kept there and distributed to new patients throughout the year, as well as at their annual “Christmas in July” party for kids at the hospital.
Thanks to everyone who played a part in making this year’s toy drive such a success—including our great radio partners at WEJZ 96.1 and WGNE Gator Country—and for making Christmas merrier for so many deserving children. We look forward to the 2018 drive!
